Anyone who has seen the dedication, kindness, and tireless efforts of our volunteers can see how incredible they are. Every single day, they give their time, energy, and hearts to make a difference—and we see it, appreciate it, and celebrate it.
As we mark Volunteers’ Week, we want to take this moment to give an extra big shout out to the people who make so much possible.
What do our volunteers bring?
Community
Our volunteers work side by side Headway staff and our clients and are the glue to Headway community. They generously give their time, bringing with them the benefit of their experiences, and a welcome dose of humour. Together we find ways to make lives that have been impacted by a brain injury better. It is a team effort and together we are stronger.
Experience
Our volunteers share their skills, knowledge, experiences and passion and everyone brings something different to the table. Every one of them has a lot to offer and every contribution matters.
We’re fortunate to have professionals from fields like psychology, neurology, and healthcare who generously give their time. Alongside them, we have volunteers with lived experience of acquired brain injury, offering a deep understanding that comes from having faced similar challenges themselves. Their insight is powerful, and their support helps our service users build new skills, grow in confidence, and find a stronger sense of hope.
We are also very lucky to have individuals join us, people who volunteer through their workplace volunteer schemes or as part of other volunteer groups such as the fantastic volunteers from Good Gym. They give us their time and a lending hand and we love working with them. Their energy and enthusiasm is contagious.
This is what community looks like—professional expertise, lived experience, and genuine human connection coming together to make a difference.,
Your compassion, commitment, and care inspire us all.
Thank you, volunteers—you are the heart of everything we do!
