DESCRIPTION:The Carers’ Workshop\, due to happen on 20th April 2023 has been postponed.\nNew locations and dates will be announced soon \nIf you would like to attend a rescheduled workshop\, please register your interest by emailing: \nabisupport@headwayessex.org.uk  \nor call 01206 845945 Option 3 \nWhat will be provided:\nThe purpose of the workshop is to provide carers with information and support to help them in their caring role. In addition\, it will offer therapeutic activities and gentle seated yoga to allow some quality time away from the caring role and an opportunity to recharge your batteries. The workshop also provides an opportunity to talk to other carers and receive peer support from people who are experiencing similar challenges in their daily lives. \nDuring the day we will look at understanding brain injury\, how everyone is managing their caring role and address the importance of self-care when being a carer. To support this\, we will have various expert speakers running sessions alongside relaxation activities. \n  \nSpeakers will include:\nRob Warren\, a Clinical Specialist Neurological OT. \nDr Carleen Scott\, Chartered Clinical Psychologist specialising in Brain Injury\, Stroke & Neuropsychology who will talk about the needs for self-care when you become a carer. \nMeryl Dear\, Hands Above Massage\, an organisation that works with carers\, offering massage therapy. \n  \nBenefits for Carers:\n\nA better understanding of brain injury and its effects.\nBe better able to relate to and support the cared for.\nLearn techniques for self-care.\nAn increased understanding about the causes of stress\, and how to manage it better.\nIndividual stress levels will have reduced.\nIn addition to this we hope the relationship with the cared for will improve and the cared for will be encouraged to be more independent.\n\n\nHere To Help\nFor more resources and information for carers of adults with acquired brain injury\, please visit the carers section on our website \n
