Organising an Event

If you want to organise an event for Headway Essex let us know, there are lots of ways in which we can help you.

Call 01206 547616 or Email: fundraising@headwayessex.org.uk

Having an event is a great way of bringing together all the people you know and it’s all in a good cause too!

Here are some things to think about:

Do what you know and enjoy!

Think through your event and allow plenty of time to plan it properly, with enough run in time to sell tickets and publicise the event.

Cheques should be made payable to Headway Essex.

Think about how much you want to raise and what the costs are going to be. You don’t want to work really hard and make a loss, so make sure that the event is viable and will cover all your costs. Do a budget!

Here are some of the costs you might incur:

  • Venue hire
  • Food and drinks
  • Printing of tickets and posters, photocopying
  • Stationery and postage
  • Telephone calls
  • Entertainment – band, disco etc

Here are some ways in which you can attract income:

  • Sponsorship for the event or parts of it (companies or individuals)
  • Donations – sometimes people make a donation if they cannot attend.
  • Sale of tickets
  • Running a raffle
  • Auctions
  • Tombola
  • Sale of goods or refreshments
  • Fun games like Heads and Tails or roll a £1 coin at the whisky bottle!
  • Fete games like a coconut shy, bouncy castle or guess the name of the teddy etc

Please contact the Headway Essex Fundraising Office if you would like any information on any legal issues attached to fundraising.
