Colchester Half Marathon
We are encouraging supporters to take on the challenge of the Colchester Half Marathon and raise sponsorship for Headway Essex.
In association with RunnersWorld and Colchester Colne Round Table, the Colchester Half Marathon brings runners of all abilities a new town centre route, once again starting and finishing at the fantastic Weston Homes Community Stadium.
We aim to provide a great race-day experience for both runners and spectators, with excellent pre- and post-race facilities provided by the Weston Homes Community Stadium, a fast course, chip timing and same day results.

Headway Essex are calling all local dare devils to take part in a sponsored charity abseil to raise vital funds for survivors of brain on Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th May.
The event is organised by Harlow Tye Rotary Club and we would ask you to raise sponsorship for Headway Essex.
The abseil will take place at Veolia Water Tower, Church Langley, Harlow, Essex.

Hats 4 Headway
Headway Essex are calling on all local businesses, clubs, schools and organisations to take part in their Hats for Headway campaign. It is hoped that the campaign will raise vital funds to support people living with brain injury throughout Essex.
Headway are asking all staff, students and members of organisations to choose a day to wear their favourite hat throughout Action for Brain Injury week and make a £1 donation in return. It is an easy and fun way to support Headway Essex.
Each group will receive a full colour certificate and the organisation that raises the most for Headway Essex will receive a personalised engraved trophy to display.
Anyone wishing to take part please contact the Headway Fundraising Office on 01206 547616 or email fundraising@headwayessex.org.uk. Headway is asking each group to take a photo with their hats on and send it to them as it may appear in the local press!
Action for Brain Injury week, Monday May 14th – Sunday May 20th is about raising awareness of the devastating effects that brain injury can have on an individual and their families.

Barleylands Fun Walk
This is a great opportunity to raise money for Headway Essex. Money is raised through sponsorship but we also receive money from a bonus pot if we enter a team. The more we raise the more we receive from the bonus pot! It is free to enter.
The walk is held in May at Barleylands Farm, Billericay.
The event starts at 12pm and the 3 mile walk starts at 1pm. There is a photo shoot before the walk at 12.45pm.
There is also a shorter walk available.
Live music is played throughout the event and there will be refreshments available including a BBQ. A fun afternoon for all the family!

Moonlight Colourthon
Walkers of the ‘Moonlight Colourthon’ will walk a half marathon (13.1 miles) at night and are encouraged to dress as brightly as their imagination will allow them to! This year’s event sets off from Chalkwell Park at 8pm in July 2012. It takes in the waterfront along Southend Seafront and Westcliff’s picturesque cliff tops with their brisk sea breezes, drops down overlooking the famous pleasure pier and then travels through the exclusive Chalkwell Hall Estate, past Old Leigh Village with its quaint cottages and fisherman’s sheds returning back through Leigh itself, finishing back at Chalkwell Park.
The walk is only open to entrants aged 16 or over.
Walkers must register and pay an entrance fee in advance and nominate their chosen charitable organisation for which they intend to raise funds. The entrance fee for the ‘Moonlight Colourthon’ is £15 which includes an exclusive brightly coloured ‘Colourthon’ T-shirt carrying the ‘Moonlight Colourthon’ logo and your medal to proudly boast that you’ve completed your walk.

“Run to the Beat” Half Marathon powered by Nike+
This year’s Sony Ericsson “Run to the Beat” Half Marathon will be on Sunday 25th September. The course starts and finishes at the O2 Arena in London and takes the runners all the way around Greenwich, with live music along the way. It is a great event for both runners and supporters.
All Headway Essex runners will receive a fundraising pack, training tips and our full support. Running vests or T-shirts will be provided when runners obtain a minimum of £100 in sponsorship pledges.

WHEN - From 9am until 10-30am at the latest
WHY – You will be given a route map so you can walk either 5 miles or 10 miles
There will be an organized 10 mile walk starting at around 9-45am
There will be an organized 5 mile walk starting at around 10am
WHAT YOU MUST DO PLEASE - FOR SAFETY DO NOT WALK ALONE -
- ALL WALKERS UNDER THE AGE OF 16 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A RESPONSIBLE ADULT
-Register in the delicatessen area of the public house before you start your walk
-On registration advise how much you have raised for your chosen charity
-Ensure that you return to the same area at the end of your walk and collect your completion certificate
-Wear good shoes/boots as it may be muddy and take coats in case it rains
-Take a mobile phone with you or have access to one from another walker
-Take liquid and food/sweets with you as required
-Keep strictly to all paths and be very careful when crossing any roads
-If you are taking your dog, please ensure you have a lead as there will be sheep
REFRESHMENTS
-There will be tea/coffee and biscuits provided when you arrive
-On your return you can buy a welcome drink in the public house
-Snacks and meals will also be available to purchase on your return – Menus will be available on your arrival and you can pre-order what you want at the end of your walk
