What We Do & How Headway Can Help You
We provide a number of services including:
Telephone support and information on the different aspects of brain injury
A listening ear
Home visits
Hospital visits
Monthly support group meetings across Essex
Referrals to our day-centre where appropriate
Support individuals and families to cope with the affects of an acquired brain injury
Support individuals and families to access education, leisure, voluntary and employment opportunities
Support individuals and families to pursue their own interests and achieve self-help and independence skills
Advocacy
Provide training to informal and formal carers and health care professionals
Educational talks to schools
Work alongside health professionals and other support agencies
Provide copies of Headway booklets and literature
Signpost to other organisations where their support may be helpful
Presentations on the work of Headway
Raise awareness of acquired brain injury

Things we can’t do…
Give medical advice and diagnoses
Recommend particular services such as rehabilitation centres, doctors or solicitors, although we can give information that will help you make a choice
Provide legal advice
Provide a counselling service
Support children with brain injury (but can signpost to appropriate organisations)
