What We Do & How Headway Can Help You

We provide a number of services including:

• Telephone support and information on the different aspects of brain injury
• A listening ear
• Home visits
• Hospital visits
• Monthly support group meetings across Essex
• Referrals to our day-centre where appropriate
• Support individuals and families to cope with the affects of an acquired brain injury
• Support individuals and families to access education, leisure, voluntary and employment opportunities
• Support individuals and families to pursue their own interests and achieve self-help and independence skills
• Advocacy
• Provide training to informal and formal carers and health care professionals
• Educational talks to schools
• Work alongside health professionals and other support agencies
• Provide copies of Headway booklets and literature
• Signpost to other organisations where their support may be helpful
• Presentations on the work of Headway
• Raise awareness of acquired brain injury
• Benefits advice

Things we can’t do…

• Give medical advice and diagnoses
• Recommend particular services such as rehabilitation centres, doctors or solicitors, although we can give information that will help you make a choice
• Provide legal advice
• Provide a counselling service
• Support children with brain injury (but can signpost to appropriate organisations)
